Silly me -- I didn't read the reviews first! This item has a top that teters rather than fits. I am going to try putting a wax seal around it to keep the lid on because it would cost too much to send it back. I thought it was too expensive for what it was to begin with, but desperation set in because the design looks like it would work well, and it is beautiful as pictured. But mine was light green and yellow vs. the rich colors pictured and that was a touch disappointing. But the workmanship is lovely nonetheless.
Still, not recommending it because the lid doesn't seat atop the container.

My only complaint is that the top doesn't seem to stay on very well. It basically just balances on the base, so is easily knocked off. Would be nice if the top had some type of rim that fit around the base so it would be more stable

The cap of the mushroom barely balances on the base. It falls off without even touching it. It will certainly be broken very shortly.

This is a cute idea but has some cons. Probably the worst feature is the lid which does not fasten to the base and simply teeters on it. Sitting on a counter, it could easily be bumped off and break. It isn't fruit fly season yet, so I don't know if it will work as a trap. I wouldn't buy it again and it's flimsiness does not justify the price I paid.

I have been using this for about 4 days and saw a couple of fruit flies around my herbs which sit on my garden window above my kitchen sink. I used 2 different fruit juices and will try to try it with vinegar. Though the trap is cute, it seems very delicate and not worth the price.
