Microplane Herb Mill
Not only was this a pain in the neck to assemble to get it working properly, it sure didn't mince the herbs as shown in the picture. I tried using it a couple of different times thinking that I must be doing something wrong. I came to the conclusion that the only thing I did wrong was to buy it in the first place. This is a total waste of money. You can hand chop 1 bunch of herbs faster than you can with the mill. Such a big disappointment.

It looks like a nice gadget.
I bought the Microplane Herb Mill for my daughter's Christmas present. Since it is not yet Christmas, I do not know how she likes it.

the herbs have to be dry
This product works pretty well and easily. The herbs HAVE to be dry or they get gummed up in the blades, so wash and dry the herbs in plenty of time to be sure they are not damp. Taking it apart and cleaning the blades is not an especially fun thing to do. I do like that no batteries are needed and even though I have arthritis in my hands, it turns easily.

We love this little herb mill. We have an herb garden and now we have a way to neatly chop up the herbs!

Inconclusive at this point
As far as chopping up herbs it was fine. However, when I took it apart to clean it I ran into trouble. I have dried it completely but, as yet, haven't been able to put it back together. There are really no GOOD directions for doing this. I'll try again today. But if putting it back together after each use becomes a total pain, then it's not worth the effort or price.

Good for firm herbs.
This product is great for firm or brittle herbs like rosemary. With soft leaf herbs such as sage and basil, it does not do the job. Soft herbs just get smashed and the mill is unable to cut them. Stiffer herbs work just great in it. I highly recommend it for such jobs.

Not what I expected.
I bought this item because when I try to chop cilantro with a knife, I'm not always successful in achieving what I hope. I washed my unit before I used it for the first time, it was not easy to reassemble. I was not able to achieve reassembly without looking at the illustration of how the unit was assembled opposed to using the instructions for reassembly. the blades are sharp, be careful.
The outcome of the milling was good in that it does mill the herb, but the herbs were bruised (dark green). I won't claim that it was the product fault. Perhaps if I had dried the cilantro and not tried this with fresh herbs it might have faired better.
